Meet Kate Prangnell, our People Partner from Aspiring HR!
After a decade among the bookshelves at Waterstones Brighton, Kate found herself on an unexpected path, tutoring unemployed adults in literacy, numeracy, and IT skills. This led to a transformative role helping people find jobs, where she saw firsthand the profound impact unemployment can have on mental health. Inspired by these experiences (and after seeing an HR pro swoop in to save the day), Kate found her way into the world of HR, drawn to the chance to work more closely with people.
At Aspiring HR, Kate is dedicated to supercharging teams and unlocking potential. Fascinated by work and the careers people choose, she’s on a mission to help others banish the dreaded Sunday scaries. Kate loves working with like-minded companies and great leaders, building workplaces where people find purpose and fulfilment (lucky us!).
Outside of work, Kate is a Brighton local at heart, with a passion for all things active (boxing, running, barbell classes) and not-so-active (a love of literary fiction, classics, and history). A true bookworm, she’s kept a “book book” since 2002, recording every title she’s read and it’s that important to her that it would be her one save in a fire (after Willie the cat, of course). Her latest recommendation? The Bee Sting by Paul Murray.

Making things happen
What’s your favourite HR joke?
I was going to make a joke about HR, but it got stuck in a feedback loop!
What’s your personal motto?
I live by a line from Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin: “Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run, there's still time to change the road you're on”.
